The Fifteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

(Last week's Bulletin is here...)

From Father Dennis:

Father Dennis The flyer inserted in this week's bulletin has the big story: groundbreaking for our new church will be held on Sunday, August 5th, when Bishop Tobin comes to celebrate the 10:30 Eucharist with us and then goes with us to the Davis farm to turn over the soil. Let the work continue!

Reaching this most significant step is the result of the hard work and generosity of many people. Special thanks go to the Steering Committee so ably chaired by Tom Orsi. The office staff and the many volunteers who assisted them deserve a lot of credit. Michael Viveiros, the principal architect, has had the patience of Job and has fulfilled every hope we have had that the design for our new church would be beautiful in itself and near-perfect for the site on which it is to be constructed. Bishop Tobin has been a strong supporter of the project and his staff in both the Fiscal Office and in the Building Office have been excellent to work with and very helpful to us. Naturally without the generous financial support by so many members and households in the parish as well as outside benefactors we would not have succeeded in reaching this great moment. Then we move on to the next phase: construction. This will take a full calendar year. This time will allow us to prepare ourselves for our new church.

Tuesday, as announced at the Masses last weekend, we had a meeting of people who had some interest in a trip to Haiti to visit the Louverture-Cleary School we support in various ways during the year . We have five committed to the trip. There is room for three more. If you have any interest in coming along, please speak to me or call the office for further contact information.

Adult Faith Formation:

Praying the Psalms

St. Ambrose tells us that "a psalm is a blessing on the lips of the people, a hymn in praise of God...". For over 2000 years the Psalms have been a source of comfort and guidance to Christians and Jews alike. Join us on Wednesday, July 25th at 7:00pm in the Parish Center as we begin to explore praying with the Psalms.

To prepare for this first gathering please read Ps. 16 from your favorite Bible translation.

Hope to see you there!

St. Bernard's Books and More

While we are doing inventory and year end reporting this month, there are no scheduled full-service hours; however, you may call Deborah at 885-6405 for flexible openings, questions, or special orders.

----------------------------------

BAPTIZED BUT NOT CONFIRMED?

Is this you? Or somebody you know? For any number of reasons baptized Catholics do not always complete their initiation into the Church. This is done through the Sacrament of Confirmation and receiving Holy Communion. This is a simple process of preparation that results in the satisfaction of participating fully in the sacramental life that Christ has given us for our joy and support. For more information call Father Reardon.

Respect For Life: Respect Life!

Do you wonder? Do you regret? Healing the Wounded Heart is a support group for women and men who have been involved in an abortion experience. The group meets twice a month in a confidential setting. Come meet Jesus and be made whole again. Call Kris at 421-7833x119.
