Blessing of the AnimalsOn Saturday, October 7th, 2006, St. Bernard Parish celebrated the Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi (October 4) with our annual Blessing of the Animals. St. Francis (c. 1181-1226), founder of the Franciscans, is the patron saint of animals, and we mark this life-affirming, critter-loving ceremony called the Blessing of the Animals in his honor.
