The Eucharistic Minister Ministry is divided into three parts. A minister can participate in one or more parts of the ministry:
- Eucharistic Minister: Church
This part of the ministry is the one in which most people are familiar. The ministers assist the celebrant at Mass distributing the Eucharist and Precious Blood (Consecrated Wine). There are two Bread ministers and two Cup ministers at the 5:00 PM, 8:30 AM, 10:00 AM and 11:30 AM Masses on weekends, holy days and special occasions as needed.
The schedule is made up every three months, mailed and posted on the parish web site (select this link to view the schedule). Every effort is made to accommodate a minister's request, for example, scheduling for particular masses. If a minister cannot make a Mass, the minister is required to find a substitute. A list of ministers is provided on the back Training is provided at agreed upon times.
- Eucharistic Minister: Sick or Homebound
This part of the ministry brings the Eucharist to a member of the parish who is sick or homebound. This can be a long term or short term assignment based upon the needs of the recipient. Once a need is communicated to the parish center, the parish center notifies the coordinator who then makes an initial call to the recipient. Then a minister is assigned to the parish member. The minister then calls the recipient and arranges to bring the Eucharist at agreed upon times. Training is provided.
- Eucharistic Minister: Robert's Nursing Home
This ministry is very similar to the bringing the Eucharist to the sick at home but instead the Eucharist is brought weekly as a group to residents at Robert's Nursing Home.
