Minutes of St. Bernard's Parish Council Meeting
October 24, 2005
In attendance were Fred Scholz, Jane Allen (ex-offico), Donna and John Bezubka, Lee Capalbo, Brian Hodor, Carol Sarro, Kay Alexander, Karin Forbes, Catherine Rubin, Ryan Twardowski and Fr. Dennis Reardon. Absent were Maureen Corcoran, Sandy and Ron DePietro, John Gibbons (ex-officio), Liz O'Keefe (ex-officio), Mary Conway and Joe Turcotte.
Opening Prayer
Father Dennis opened the meeting with a liturgical prayer at 7:10 pm.
Minutes
Motion was made to accept the minutes of September 26, 2005 and seconded with no questions or changes.
Stewardship
Carol started out the meeting by giving a brief overview as to what the true meaning of stewardship really is as it related to the First Letter of St. Peter from the new testament, chapter 4, verses 7-11. Each member of the council was asked to define their meaning of Stewardship and what it means to them. The major consensus was "Using the gifts we receive from God and making good use of them during our lives on earth."
Old Business
Brian Hodor led the group in selecting our objectives that the parish council wishes to accomplish for this up-coming year. They are as follows:
Parish Council &mdash objectives chosen 4,5,9
Social &mdash objectives chosen 2,3,5
Youth &mdash objectives chosen 1,2,4
Communication &mdash objectives chosen 1,2,7
Religious &mdash objectives chosen 5,6,8
Education &mdash objectives chosen 1,3,5
Stewardship &mdash objectives chosen 2,5,15
Brian agreed to type up the objectives and develop an action plan for the next meeting
Pastor's Remarks and Open Discussion
The annual attendance count for all masses has been re-scheduled for Oct 29/30. St. Bernard's will resume the "Lenten Series" as well as other programs for the holiday and up-coming months. Donna Bezubka suggested the parish include our web site address and parish phone number on the weekly collection envelopes. Jane Allen will look into it before the new envelopes are ordered for next year.
Closing Prayer
Fr. Dennis closed the meeting with a prayer at 8:30 pm with a reminder that the next meeting is scheduled for November 28, 2005 at 7pm.
